“Fans Rally as Iowa Hawkeyes Women’s Team Heads to NCAA Sweet 16”
Fans gathered at the Newbo City Market on Hawkeyes Saturday afternoon for a Watch Party event to support the women’s team. Throughout the season, the team has amassed over 3,000 points, averaging about 92 points per game. With this impressive performance, fans are optimistic about the women’s team’s chances of clinching the final victory.

Iowa’s News Now caught up with Hawkeye fan Matt Grimm, a Cedar Rapids resident, on Saturday to discuss his reaction to the Hawkeyes’ appearance in the 2024 NCAA Sweet 16.
“Congratulations to Caitlin, I mean, breaking all those records, I can’t even imagine how awesome that must feel,” said Grimm. “It’s so much fun to watch them. Not just her, but the whole team jelling together.”
Iowa’s News Now also spoke with Troy Lloid, another Cedar Rapids resident, to get his perspective on the Hawkeye women’s team.
“I believe the girls are gonna make it all the way. Caitlin Clark is awesome,” said Lloid. “She’s doing a great job, and I fully support everything she’s doing and everything she’s about.”
The Hawkeyes are set to face LSU on Monday, April 1st, in Albany, marking a rematch of the national championship game.
