The 2025 Camry ditches its traditional gas-powered four- and six-cylinder engines, opting instead for an upgraded version of last year’s hybrid setup. This change means that front-wheel-drive Camrys now boast 225 hp from their 2.5-liter gas-electric combo, while the introduction of an all-wheel-drive option adds an extra electric motor to the rear axle, resulting in 232 hp. These power figures surpass those of the previous-generation Camry hybrids and even the gas-only variants.

Despite the increase in power, the 2025 Camry maintains impressive fuel efficiency ratings. The entry-level front-wheel-drive Camry LE achieves an outstanding 51 mpg city, 50 mpg highway, and 51 mpg combined, thanks to Toyota’s fifth-generation Hybrid System (THS 5). Even higher trim levels like the Camry SE, XLE, and XSE, though slightly lower in efficiency due to added features and larger wheels, still outperform their 2024 counterparts.

The introduction of all-wheel drive to the Camry hybrid lineup further enhances its capabilities. Previously available only on gas-powered models, the new hybrid AWD variant offers superior power and fuel economy. The Camry LE AWD achieves an impressive 51 mpg city, 49 mpg highway, and 50 mpg combined, making it a compelling choice for eco-conscious consumers seeking added traction.

With its fifth-generation hybrid system, featuring a lighter electric motor-generator unit and a lithium-ion battery pack, the Camry sets a new standard for midsize sedan fuel efficiency. This advanced system allows for seamless power distribution to the rear wheels when needed, providing enhanced traction and stability.

In comparison to its competitors, like the Honda Accord, the Camry’s AWD-hybrid combination offers superior fuel efficiency and versatility, further solidifying Toyota’s position as a leader in eco-friendly automotive technology.
