Super Bowl Surpasses Valentine’s Day Excitement in American Preferences: Marist National Poll Reveals Trends”

A recent survey from the Marist National Poll suggests that Americans are showing more enthusiasm for Sunday’s Super Bowl than the impending Valentine’s Day holiday.

Inquiring about preferences for “which February event” stirred more excitement, the poll revealed that just under 50 percent of respondents favored the NFL game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, a slight increase from last year’s response.

Approximately 37 percent expressed greater interest in Valentine’s Day activities, while 14 percent conveyed indifference toward either upcoming event. Men exhibited a higher inclination toward the Super Bowl, with slightly over 55 percent expressing excitement compared to 40 percent of female respondents. Conversely, women were more likely to anticipate Valentine’s Day, with 44 percent looking forward to the love-themed holiday, compared to 29 percent of men.

The survey also highlighted varying preferences among age groups, indicating that respondents under 30 were the most divided. Roughly 46 percent of individuals under 30 favored the Super Bowl, while 42 percent expressed a preference for Valentine’s Day.

Although the Super Bowl garnered more enthusiasm nationwide, the Midwest emerged as the region with the highest excitement levels, according to the poll’s findings. The Marist survey, conducted from Jan. 29 to Feb. 1 with 1,582 respondents, has a margin of error of 3.4 percentage points.
