What’s the latest situation for the London area?

The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) is reporting 16 new COVID-19 cases since Friday. The total includes five cases on Saturday, five on Sunday and six on Monday. There were no additional deaths recorded.

The health unit posted one more confirmed case of the delta variant of concern for the region. There have now been 20 cases of the delta variant since late May.

There were 19 recoveries posted in the same period, with 59 active cases in the region.

The seven-day rolling average for daily case counts is at seven, according to data from the MLHU.

London Health Sciences Centre says they are currently caring for nine patients with COVID-related illnesses, along with fewer than five in the intensive care unit (ICU). Those being treated in the ICU includes fewer than five patients from outside of the health region.

There are no staff members who have currently tested positive for the virus.

COVID-19 across the region and beyond

Southwestern Public Health posted four new cases of coronavirus since Friday. There are 16 ongoing cases in the region, including seven in Elgin St. Thomas and nine in Oxford County.

Huron Perth Public Health is reporting three new COVID-19 cases and no deaths. There are 10 active cases in the health region.

Meanwhile, Ontario reported 170 new infections on Monday and one additional death.

The Ministry of Health says there were 228 people being treated for COVID-19 in intensive care units across the province, including 157 who require a ventilator to breathe.
