PFAS

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently finalized regulations for six PFAS compounds, commonly known as forever chemicals, found in our drinking water. This announcement marks a significant step forward in safeguarding public health.

Aqua has been at the forefront of addressing PFAS contamination for over seven years. We have conducted extensive testing of our water systems, collaborated with officials and regulators to establish our own  standard in 2020, and invested in the design and construction of treatment facilities to mitigate PFS exposure.

In the past year, we have intensified our commitment by adopting an industry-leading approach to transparently share PFA test results in our annual water quality reports. Additionally, we have initiated numerous PFS remediation projects across our service areas and are exploring innovative engineering solutions to accelerate compliance with the new EPA standards.

Throughout this process, we have advocated for our customers’ interests, ensuring that responsible parties bear the costs of cleanup efforts. We are actively pursuing legal action against chemical manufacturers and other entities accountable for PFAS contamination, while also securing grants and low-interest loans to offset expenses.

We commend the EPA for establishing definitive limits on PFAS compounds, and we remain dedicated to achieving compliance with these regulations. For more information on our PFAS mitigation initiatives, customers can visit AquaWater.com/PFAS.
